About Katie 

Hello! My name is Katie Moran and I am a young theatre artist who is based in Central Massachusetts. I recently graduated from Dean College in Franklin, MA with a B.A. in Theatre (Concentrations in both Acting and Technical Theatre). I love working in a collaborative space and providing not only my skills, but great laughter to others and joy to the process of anything I am working on. I believe my bright, optimistic, and welcoming personality livens up the room and brings a comfort that encourages great creativity.

 

I am equally passionate both on-stage and off-stage. My passion for directing began in the beginning of my college years simply from providing friends with feedback and adjustments to pieces they were working on for our classes. It was in 2020 when I became a vital part of Dean College's virtual performance series called Werk Your Craft. My other directing credit from my time at Dean comes from my work as Assistant Director on their 2021 production of I Hate Hamlet by Paul Rudnick. These projects were where I thoroughly began my love and passion for directing. 

 

Right after Dean, I gained the opportunity to work at Studio Theatre Worcester in Worcester, MA. On their Fall 2022 production of Into the Breeches by George Brant, I worked as Assistant Director providing creative aid for the production. More information about my directing can be found here!

Intimacy Choreography is a new but strong passion of mine that I began practicing in my final year at Dean in 2022. For my senior capstone project, I directed multiple scenes in, "An Intimacy Scene Study". Within this project, I studied the techniques and principles of intimacy choreography and learned how to incorporate its ideals into my work as a director. Learn more about "An Intimacy Scene Study"

Since then I have worked at Studio Theatre Worcester again as an intimacy choreographer for their 2023 production of the musical The Mad Ones and then again in the same role for the Clark Musical Theatre club at Clark University in Worcester, MA for their February 2024 production of the musical Legally Blonde.

Currently, I am back at Studio Theatre Worcester working again as their intimacy choreographer for their current production of Proof which opens this June!
